Why not score yourself on these 5 TOP TIPS to better skin health

TOP TIP 1

Double cleanse both morning and night.
A good cleaning routine is vital to skin health. The morning cleanse removes any toxins and pillow dirt from the skin. The night time cleanse is especially important to cleanse away make-up and free radicals from pollution during the day that can accelerate sun damage and ageing.

Cleansing wipes are a mega NO. Not only are they bad for the planet but they can be harsh to the skin and leave a residue behind that clogs the skin and stops the penetration of your Alumier skincare ingredients.
Score one point if you double cleanse TWICE a day.
(Score zero if you use cleansing wipes)

TOP TIP 2

Don’t hate – Exfoliate
I often hear you say “I want brighter looking skin – mine looks so dull and grey”. The key to achieving this is to use an exfoliant.

Why?

The skin consists of 5 layers. Healthy plump skin cells at the bottom work their way to the top and gradually flatten and die where they accumulate making the skin look dull and grey in appearance. Anything we can do to remove these dead skin cells will help to brighten the skin and also encourage the healthy plump ones back to the surface again. Regular exfoliation will improve the skin’s texture, integrity and keep the skin looking plump, tight and young.

Did you know that exfoliation also helps to keep the skin hydrated, improve acne and pigmentation?

Dead skin cells can also reduce the penetration and absorption of your Alumier skincare products.

It is really important to use the right exfoliant for you. Traditional granular exfoliants can aggravate certain skin conditions. So if you’re unsure what’s best then get in touch.

Score one point if you exfoliate at least once a week.
(Score zero if you have acne and use a granular scrub)

TOP TIP 3

Use L-Ascorbic acid 15% – not any old vitamin C.
Our skin is subject to daily pollution and environmental factors that increase the production of free radicals. These free radicals attack the cells and cause skin damage leading to ageing and pigmentation.

Vitamin C – particularly L-Ascorbic acid – is a potent antioxidant and so protects against free radical damage. It is also proven to stimulate collagen synthesis and it is anti-inflammatory.

It counteracts almost every key sign of ageing, including pigmentation.
Score one point if you use this POWERHOUSE formula.
(Score zero if your vitamin C is NOT L-Ascorbic acid)

TOP TIP 4

Reap those retinol rewards.

Retinol is a powerful ingredient that is proven to help stimulate collagen production, reduce pigmentation, reduce the signs of ageing and help with acne. This will ward off the appearance of fine lines and sun spots as well as help to reduce pore size.

There’s a fear factor around retinol because we have been told to only use it at night, apply sunscreen with it during the day and to use it gradually to avoid a retinol response.

Using micro-encapsulated retinol is much less likely to cause irritation and if you follow my advice then you should be able to activate your best skin ever, with minimal issues.
Score one point if you use my hero ingredient – Retinol.
(Score zero if you use your retinol in the morning)

TOP TIP 5

Broad spectrum sunscreen is non-negotiable.

Using a broad spectrum sunscreen all year round is hands down one of the best (but least followed) skincare tips out there. UV rays that cause ageing and skin cancer are present all year round, even on cloudy days. These rays can also penetrate glass.

I hear you say my moisturiser and/or foundation contains SPF. That’s enough right?

NO.

Did you know that this only protects you against the (burning) UVB rays of the sun and does nothing to protect you against the (ageing) UVA rays? Unless of course, your product states that it is broad spectrum or has a UVA star rating.

Go on double check!

Score one point if you wear a broad spectrum sunscreen EVERY day.
(Score zero if your rely on SPF in your moisturiser/foundation)

What was your score?

How did you do?
Did you get 5/5?
