What is a chemical peel?

The use of chemical peels date back to Ancient Egypt when Cleopatra used sour milk to improve the appearance of her skin. Lactic acid – an alpha hydroxy acid (AHA) is the active ingredient in sour milk. A chemical peel is a treatment used to improve the skin texture and tone. An acid is applied to the skin to lower the pH, which loosens the connections between dead skin cells, inducing exfoliation and stimulating new cell growth. This process causes the superficial layers of the dead skin to peel off, revealing a smoother more radiant complexion. Chemical peels can also thicken the epidermis, increase dermal volume and stimulate collagen production.
Peels can be described as superficial, medium or deep according to how far they penetrate the skin. Deeper peels are associated with longer down time and more side effects.

Where can chemical peels be performed?

Chemical peels are usually performed on the face, but may also be used on the neck, decollete, back and hands.

Treatment Expectations

Beautiful skin doesn’t happen overnight. As single chemical peel can provide the immediate effect of bright and radiant skin. However, more significant results in treating textural issues, hyperpigmentation, fine lines and inflamed acne take time.

AlumierMD Glow medium peel

Glowpeel combines lactic acid, salicylic acid and resorcinol, creating a multipurpose resurfacing solution effective in minimising the appearance of fine lines, wrinkles and hyperpigmentation issues like age spots, discoloration and uneven skin tone. This formula exfoliates dead skin cells and stimulates cell renewal. To suit individual needs, glow peel can be customised in strength by increasing the number of layers applied.

AlumierMD Radiant 30 superficial peel

Radiant 30 is an alpha hydroxy acid resurfacing peel containing lactic acid to exfoliate dead skin cells, boost cell turnover and stimulate collagen, improving skin texture and tone. This multifunctional peel targets multiple skin conditions, including fine lines and wrinkles, hyperpigmentation, sun damage and large pores.

AlumierMD Radiant 20/10 superficial peel

Radiant 20/10 resurfacing peel contains a powerful combination of lactic acid (an AHA) and salicylic acid (a BHA) to improve skin tone, and texture by exfoliating skin cells and speeding up cell turnover. This multipurpose resurfacing peel reduces acne pimples and minimises the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, large pores, hyperpigmentation and sun damage.

AlumierMD Enzymatic Peel

This is a highly effective exfoliator that combines 10% lactic acid with fruit enzymes to exfoliate dead skin cells and promote skin renewal, minimizing the appearance of fine lines, wrinkles and hyperpigmentation. Aloe vera extract calms the skin and soothes redness, while sodium hyaluronate, vitamin B5 and gluconolactone hydrate and soften skin for a supple and radiant complexion.

What AlumierMD Home Care products are there?

AlumierMD Cleansers

A good cleansing routine is vital to skin health. Double cleanse, twice a day, when you wake up and before you go to bed. In the morning it will remove the build up of sebum, toxins, oils and dirt that the skin has excreted whilst you were asleep, along with any serums that you have applied the night before that are not recommended for daytime use; for example, Retinol. The night time cleanse is especially important to cleanse away make-up, impurities, dirt, oils and free radicals from pollution during the day that can accelerate sun damage and ageing. AlumierMD medical grade skincare has a cleanser for all skin types.

AlumierMD Exfoliants

Exfoliation is one of the most important aspects of your AlumierMD home skin care routine and is key for a brighter smoother complexion. These dead skin cells can also be responsible for excess oil and clogged pores leading to blemishes and acne. Exfoliation can be performed mechanically by using scrubs on the skin, or chemically by using products that contain special ingredients to remove the dead skin cells without scrubbing. At Finesse we can help you choose the method most suitable for you.

AlumierMD Speciality Serums

Whilst moisturisers offer hydration and nourishment for the skin, serums are formulated to have a lighter consistency and often have a higher concentration of active ingredients, which are able to penetrate deeper into the skin. You can also layer serums. Start with the lighter consistency and vitamins first. Apply Vitamin C in the morning and vitamin A (retinol) in the evening.

AlumierMD Antioxidants

Our skin is subjected to daily pollution and environmental factors that increase the production of free radicals, which in turn attacks the cells and cause skin damage leading to ageing and pigmentation issues. Vitamin C particularly L-ascorbic acid 15% is a potent antioxidant that helps mop up those free radicals. It is also the only antioxidant proven to stimulate collagen synthesis, plus its anti-inflammatory too. It counters almost every sign of ageing skin, including pigmentation.

AlumierMD Moisturisers

AlumierMD have a range of active moisturisers specifically created to target a particular skin condition. These moisturisers are not only designed with your skin concern in mind they also contain powerhouse peptides to firm and strengthen the skin, reducing the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles and antioxidants to provide protection from free radical damage.

AlumierMD Retinol Resurfacing Serum

Our retinol resurfacing serum is a pure potent retinol that dramatically improves the appearance of fine lines, wrinkles, blemishes and skin texture, while evening skin tone. Cutting edge micro-encapsulated retinol allows for gradual release overnight. By encapsulating the retinol and adding soothing and hydrating ingredients like niacinamide, honey and sodium hyaluronate, maximal results can be achieved in comfort. Whether you are starting your retinol journey or have been using it for some time, we can advise which of our serums; 0.25%, 0.5% or 1% is best for you.

AlumierMD Speciality Eye Products

Did you know that the skin around the eyes is the most fragile of the entire body? This fragility can leave the eye area vulnerable to the visible signs of early onset ageing, including lines, skin laxity and dark circles. Our “Bright Eyes” duo contains AluminEye gel and Retinol Eye Gel. Together this duo will significantly improve the appearance of fine lines, puffiness and dark circles in any skin type.

AlumierMD Broad Spectrum Sunscreens

AlumierMD has a range of broad spectrum physical sunscreens with an SPF of at least 40. They are formulated with a choice of texture and tint. They can be worn alone or over your favourite AlumierMD moisturiser. They also contain antioxidants shown to protect the skin from damaging free radicals.

How can I purchase my AlumierMD homecare products?

AlumierMD medical grade home care products can be purchased directly from Finesse Skin Clinic, a registered stockist, or through the AlumierMD online product shop. However, as AlumierMD contains active and medical grade ingredients, for your wellbeing and safety, you must have a consultation beforehand.

After your consultation you will also be sent an activation email or given a code specific for Finesse Skin clinic which will allow you to purchase your skin care products from AlumierMD online, with delivery to your door, right when you need it.
