Using a medical grade dermatoscope I capture detailed images of any moles or lesions you are concerned about. Those images are then submitted securely to a GMC registered consultant dermatologist for remote review.
You will receive a written report within 24 to 48 hours telling you clearly whether the lesion is benign, needs monitoring or requires further medical attention.
If further action is needed you will be guided on the appropriate next steps, whether that is a GP referral or another clinical pathway.

You should consider booking a skin lesion assessment if a mole or mark is changing in shape, colour or size, if it itches, bleeds or crusts, if it is new and you are not sure it was there before, or if it is simply something that keeps catching your attention and you would feel better having it properly assessed.
Dermatologists use the ABCDE rule to assess moles and pigmented lesions. A is for Asymmetry, one half does not match the other. B is for Border, edges that are irregular, ragged or blurred. C is for Colour, more than one shade within the same lesion. D is for Diameter, larger than 6mm, roughly the size of a pencil eraser. E is for Evolving, any change in size, shape or colour, or a lesion that starts to itch or bleed. If any of those apply to something on your skin, please do not sit on it.
Yes it does. There are many different types of skin lesions and marks and they are not all the same thing. Seborrhoeic keratoses, dermatofibromas, angiomas, freckles, sun spots and post-inflammatory pigmentation can all look concerning but are not moles. This service is suitable for any pigmented or suspicious lesion that can be clearly photographed, not just moles.

Yes, for patients aged 16 and over. Patients under 16 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.
This service is not suitable for moles that are bleeding heavily, infected or very painful, for rapidly spreading rashes accompanied by other symptoms, for patients who have already been referred to hospital for a specific lesion, for lesions in areas that are difficult to photograph, or if you have more than three new or suspicious lesions requiring review at the same appointment. In those cases please see your GP directly.
If further action is needed you will be contacted directly with clear advice on the appropriate next steps. This may include a recommendation to see your GP or access another clinical pathway for further assessment.
