CryoPen Cryotherapy

As the NHS no longer treats cosmetic blemishes why not visit Finesse Skin Clinic for the fast, safe and effective removal of such skin imperfections using an advanced Cryotherapy innovation the “Cryo IQ PRO Liquid Pen” from Cryosthetics.

Cryotherapy is the controlled destruction of unwanted tissue by the precise application of extreme cold.

Cryotherapy offers the ideal treatment for benign skin lesions including:

Why choose Cryo IQ Liquid Pro?

  • It is a CE and FDA registered medical grade device
  • It emits a fine jet of Nitrous Oxide gas under high pressure with point precision freezing to prevent collateral damage to surrounding healthy tissue
  • It will achieve the correct temperature for Cryonecrosis which occurs at -27°C ensuring it is more effective than other treatments you could buy from a pharmacy containing Dimethyl Ether and Propane
  • It is a sterile procedure and does not cause Cryodestruction like Liquid Nitrogen which creates a wound. Any treatment process that creates a wound increase the chance of an infection and scarring post procedure
  • It is typically a quick procedure – with a treatment generally lasting from 5 to 30 seconds
  • It is a relatively low risk procedure with minimal discomfort

FAQs

The duration of the treatment will depend upon the surface area and the thickness of the tissue being treated.

There will be a pain sensation similar to a stinging nettle which may persist for a few minutes after the treatment. There may also be a small amount of localised itching which should go around 10 minutes. This is normal.
Side effects and complications are usually minimal. These will be discussed at your consultation.
  • Both hypopigmentation and hyperpigmentation can occur after cryotherapy. This is generally expected as part of the treatment process and will generally return to normal pigmented skin after around 6 weeks depending upon the depth of the lesion treated.
  • Although rare, nerve damage can occur when freezing on areas where they lie closer to the skin, ie fingers. This usually returns with a few months.
  • Hair follicles can easily be damaged by cryotherapy and permanent alopecia in the treatment area is not uncommon.
  • Headaches these are not uncommon when freezing on the forehead, scalp and temples and can last for 2 hours.
  • A blister may appear in the treated area and can last anything from a few hours to a few days. It is important not to pop the blister as this can lead to an increased risk of infection. However should it accidentally pop you can smear with a light antiseptic cream.
No: You will be asked to complete a consent form ahead of the procedure to ensure you do not have any contraindications to treatment. You will also be asked about your medical history and any medications including medicines you buy from a pharmacy or take as a supplement.

The treated cells will shrivel and die and be replaced by healthy cells which work their way to the surface of the skin between 2-6 weeks later.
