In my six years of doing this I have learnt that radiant, glowing skin is only possible with consistent habits, time, amazing products and a guiding hand. Before I explain a bit more about the various options available to you – here is my own personal story and my approach to achieving radiant, glowing and healthy skin. I hope you can see from my results why I love doing what I do.
First of all, Botulinum toxin has helped to fade and reduce those ‘static’ lines you can see in my forehead area (static lines are those that are still there even when we are relaxed).
Cheek filler has helped to replace the lost volume in my upper face, and a gentle lip restoration has naturally enhanced what is considered to be the most expressive part of a lady’s face – the lips. I hope you agree that this gentle restoration looks very natural and hasn’t changed me, just improved what I already had.
The next step was then to improve my overall skin health and texture and to do this I had alternating monthly sessions of micro-needling with chemical peels.
Using chemical peels on a regular basis (don’t worry they aren’t as scary as they sound), helped to naturally stimulate the production of collagen. Peels can make your skin—and skin-care products—work better. In minutes, acids lift away dead cells and trigger a lovely chain reaction: As that topmost layer is shed, signals are sent to the living cells below to multiply and move up, to increase collagen production, to make more hyaluronic acid—to help your skin ‘act younger’.
SkinPen® Precision Micro-needling helps to rejuvenate the skin by boosting collagen production, which in turn reduces the appearance of wrinkles and fine lines and elevates the overall texture of your skin.
Finally, the icing on the cake to really achieving the ultimate outcome was combining these treatments with my favourite brand of skincare: AlumierMD.
Alongside using the correct cleanser for my skin type and my anti ageing serum, my favourite AlumierMD medical grade skincare products include my Bright and Clear exfoliant – great at lifting those pesky dead skin cells off the surface of my skin, it really does have a brightening effect.
I also would not be without my Retinol Resurfacing Serum – this product encourages those healthy skin cells from the bottom of my skin to the top – call it a ‘bottom up’ exfoliation. This has helped my pigmentation, and my fines line and wrinkles no end.
I would also never be without my Everactive C&E serum. Love, love, love this revitalising serum. I know I am using the only active form of vitamin C (L-Ascorbic acid 15%) to protect, strengthen and brighten the skin.
I almost forgot to mention, I now wear my broad spectrum sunscreen EVERY day.
YES, every single day – come rain or shine.
We all have our insecurities and for me it’s my asymmetry. It makes me feel all lopsided and as though I have had a stroke. That’s one of the reasons why I tend to have photos taken from the side. Or why I tend to hide behind a funny face. Call me silly but that’s just how I feel. This is generally the case with everyone – your face isn’t symmetrical. Something we often have to accept.
As a young mum I was told I had large pores and that maybe I should go and do something about it. I became self conscious about that too.
Now as I’m getting older I’m naturally losing volume in my face and I’m starting to get a scraggy neck but you know what, I’m going to use all the knowledge I have to ensure I can become the best version of myself. That’s not to become someone else but to do things to top up the natural reserves of Hyaluronic acid or collagen and elastin. Important skingredients that help to “plump” up the volume ( a give away as to my age with that teenage tune eh?).
Understanding skin means I know how important it is to exfoliate and use products like L-ascorbic acid and Retinol to stimulate collagen and increase the skin cell turnover. Protection is also key – what you do now to prevent those UVA rays from causing changes will go a long way to determining how your skin will look in 10, 20 years time. Taking a daily collagen supplement will also help and then there’s the all important drinking of water, nutrition, sleep and alcohol consumption too.
